Just repeating Alunj's post regards Aberavon

The Styrene smell was absolutely horrific there on Sunday PM . I would really think twice about going in there at the moment , St Modwen are dodging or trying to dodge their responsibilities.

Watersport users were considered a possible receptor present at the site and were noted within the CCTV
observations. It was noted that in May, August and September 2007 adults and possibly children were
present undertaking water activities including surfing, wind surfing and canoeing. Surfing is popular at
Aberavon Beach (Ref. 8). The site area is accessed over sand dunes and through an industrial area/fish
worm factory. The main beach area is known for watersports and therefore it is likely watersports will be
concentrated in that area of the beach where the beach is easily accessible and facilities are nearby
(approximately 2.5 km south east of the site). Watersports (comprising canoeing and surfing) were noted to
be undertaken at the site on 5 days throughout the CCTV footage in May, August and September noting that
the footage was watched for a selected week(s) from each month. It is therefore assumed that only a small
number of visitors use the sea in the area of concern for watersports.
Each of the water activities involve being in constant contact with the seawater and the possibility of
ingesting the seawater. It is estimated from the CCTV footage that although watersports occur in this area,
these activities are undertaken infrequently. In addition the contamination identified at the beach is either in
the groundwater or where this groundwater comes to surface. Once the contaminants reach the sea, dilution
will occur. Therefore any contact with the contamination would occur at the point of entry from the beach
into the sea. Once in the sea, due to the dilution, contact would be minimal.

Hi,

Any chance you can attach or link to the full report on the pollution? Would like to know all the details before I get in next.

Cheers,
Rob.

Rob can you PM me an email . I will send the PDF
Beware they ruled out waterspouts users as a potential receptor so the conclusions will be everything is safe. They rally only considered dog walkers as being exposed heavily. The council are houndingbthem for another meeting . So far there is no evidence of any repairs to the pollution control system
