I want to learn to Kite Surf, but... age is a question

Postby Whuwhuwhu » 21 Jun 2019, 08:41

I would really like to try Kite Surfing, but I am concerned that my age ( over 50, not yet 60) could be an issue.
Does someone actually teach older people how to do this, or is it best for me to just watch?
How does one prepare for this activity? It looks like you have to have great core muscles.

Hi and welcome to the forum.
If you come visit the beach next time it's windy you will see there are many erm "mature" people kitesurfing, tbh way more than there are youngsters. we have quite a few retired gents some into the mid 70's that kite with us both here and on our trips...I'm very close to 60 but as keen as ever and it's touch wood am not showing any signs of slowing down just yet.

So if you really want to do it, then do it!

Go and get yourself some lessons. You won’t be the oldest out there I’m sure.

As much as like that video...he's in Jeri where it's thirty degrees in water as well as the air!! We have our Harry who joins us most of our trips plus Terry who are both similar ages and kiting in the real world...not just a tropical paradise.
