Andy C wrote:I just came off the phone with TAP.

The guy took my old and new dates and flyer number etc.
Said £240 to change to those dates. Asked how much to cancel and he said £165.

So I thought rebook online the new dates then claim on the insurance for the original flights once inside the 28days.

I think I might wait a lot closer to it to book the new flights to be sure they’re still running.

I did get something strange while looking into it the other night. If I tried to change my flights online it said no flight on Sunday the 15th but going on as a new comer to the site it was fine to book a flight that day.

Andy.

You say “Asked how much to cancel and he said £165”
By that did you think they meant you would get £165 back or Total ticket price minus £165.

From what I understand, all you can get back on a (passenger) cancellation is the taxes.
In my case this is:
Taxes, fees and carrier charges = 162.34 (For a Total ticket price 656.34)

This sort of ties up with what Tony got?

If TAP cancel, we should be in for a full refund, failing that I’m hoping my credit card will cover it.

Quick update:
I’ve been in touch with my credit card company (NatWest MasterCard) and they say if the airline has met their terms and conditions, which I accepted on booking, they can’t/won’t do anything.
As I understand it, the best i can hope for on cancellation is a tax refund ~£162.
I’m rather hoping TAP cancel the Oct flights now.

Anybody else had more joy?

If there changed the scheduled flights time, u can eligible for a full refund, that’s what happened with my SAS flight in March, they refund the full ticket price, waited for 4montha tough.
I had a notification last week about departure time changes on my inbound flight, I was gonna call the hotline this week but too busy at work and totally forgot about it. Anyone got TAP cs no. for the UK??

My annual insurance ‘Columbus’ which I took out prio to COVID has confirmed that I can claim on the insurance as the FCO has advised not to travel and my flight was booked pre COVID.
Fingers crossed :)
