I hadn't heard of it (excuse the pun! ) But thought it was interesting.

Look up what the surgical procedure is if you need any more convincing - it's not pleasant!

Blu-Tak is very popular - cheap and effective, though it does block out a lot of sound. I use the pink stuff just because it's bright and I'm really good at losing things. Marc says the white stuff can get stuck / disintegrate in your ears!

I've not had much success with proper plugs - expensive, leak, fall out and/or just don't fit in my ears. I even had custom moulded ones done by the NHS once but they were also crap.

Other people rate proper plugs though - docs pro plugs and surfplugs in particular have good reputations. Surfplugs were the only thing I didn't try due to the cost.

I have used these for a few years and highly rate them, I have tried a few ear plugs and these fit really well as they are custom molded to your ears. Pretty much the same as you would get if you went to an audiologist for and spent £100 ish on fitted ear plugs!

Surfers ear - ear plugs?

As Stoney says...BluTac works well for many.
I've had ear issues all my life, a youth full of swimming (5 hours a day for 10 years) and surfing/kitesurfing ever since.
I've used Blutac for the bast 20 years with great success, I just keep loosing the purpose made plugs and £1 for a sheet of blutac (or the pink) I no longer worry about this.

Just don't use white tac :?

I find the BluTac a little bit hard to ram into my tiny ear canals. I mixed blu with some white, but found it warmed up too easily and made it like I was trying to get soft chewed chewing gum out of my ears - a bluddy pain in the arse TBH and worrying that some was left in the canal.

I find custom ear plugs easier to use. Not lost any yet... yet ;)

I've got narrow ear canals too (common if you swim a lot as a kid I'm told). With the Blu-Tak I just use quite big pieces and, aside from making a bit of a point on the ball before squidging it into my ear, don't really worry about getting it into the canals at all. It fils the area around the canal and is sticky/stiff enough that I've never had it fall out.

Cheers for the comments! Blutac isn't hard to try so I'm going to give that ago.

Mack's Pillow Soft Silicone Putty Ear Plugs...

Reusable a few times. They are quite large so can rip one piece in half to make them go further.
