W/Ending sometime hopefully soon!

Police were turning people (surfers) away from Rest Bay today.
The car park closed yesterday but people were still parking on the grass verges anywhere they could..pretty much all illegally too.

Sarah and I took the dogs out to Newton this afternoon, it was noticeably quiet but there are still plenty of people out there including builders going about there normal work.
It's not entirely clear who can still go to work and who can't.
I'm certain we will get another update sometime soon clamping down further.

I don't entirely agree with is statement but the message fundamentally the same, stay at home

Welsh Surfing Federation Update

"In light of the pandemic that is globally affecting us all, our coastal communities are asking for a simple favour.

PLEASE do not come down to surf our beaches no matter how good the surf is. Residents of areas all over Wales are fearful that you are coming into the communities, possibly spreading the virus without realising all for the sake of you definitely falling off your first wave.

The government has implemented only necessary travel, closed beach car parks and stressed social distancing for a reason. It’s not just to be awkward when the weather is banging, it’s because the hospitals are full and people are dying.

So let’s put this simply:
If you can’t walk there, don’t surf there

P.S. Word on the grapevine is if you accent isn’t local, expect to be dropped in on"

They have taken a lot of stick for the last comment, justifiably too!

I suppose it is non-essential travel if over a mile or two but maybe business as usual if you live on the beach itself??

The supermarket by me was packed out. Scarred for life after staying in for so long and witnessing that.

The police have new powers, they will now be doing random checks on motorists with on the spot fines.
I've heard they will patrolling Porthcawl this weekend...to stop a repeat of last weekends fiasco!

What does anyone think? Is it ok to go if you are within a mile or two? There must be some advantage with this sport.

I was losing the will after visiting the supermarket today.

Yeah, I’ve heard about it here. Just read about someone getting stopped for driving to go and walk their dog up on the Malvern Hills.

Haven’t been on the bike since last weekend, 1. Because the dog walk takes up the once a day exercise and 2. last Sunday I rode around a corner to see a delivery driver coming towards me in a Crafter looking down at his mobile phone. You can make it as safe as possible for yourself but you can’t rely on others to do the same

The british cycling union has warned people not to group ride this weekend else risk cycling getting banned . On our way back from collecting our shop . We saw three groups on the road . One group at the traffic light all close together . I dread to think what we will see tomorrow . We are going out from the house everyday but we are very lucky having only one road to cross before we are completely off road . I can’t imagine what people in the big cities are going thru
